Homeschooler's Guide to... (2003), The Review by Heather W. Allen
By Vicki CaruanaWheaton, IL
Crossway Books
ISBN 1-58134-357-4.
The Homeschooler's Guide to...; was a fun book to read and covered just about everything a homeschooler might be interested in reading about. For example, specific chapters cover testing and evaluation; home-based businesses; community involvement; high school and college entrance; working with traditional schools; homeschooling in the military; support groups and co-ops; children with special needs; study skills; and music education. Further, appendices provide information concerning state-by-state testing, a learning style inventory and a spiritual gifts inventory.
In essence, if you have thought of it, were thinking of it, or might have not ever thought of it, this book probably covers it. It's great for getting your feet wet, serving as a catalyst for thinking about issues you might not have considered, and steering you to where you might find additional information.
I would recommend this book if you would like a good, practical, overview of these topics. For more in-depth information about a topic, references are provided at the end of each chapter.
