Jim Elliot Biography and Unit Study Curriculum Guide Review by Deborah Wuehler
Christian Heroes: Then & NowYWAM Publishing
http://www.ywampublishing.com/
I love YWAM's biographies! Their goal is to acquaint us with the true stories of men and women who have answered God's call to be missionaries for Him. I believe we are all called to spread the Gospel and these books relight that fire and encourage us to answer that call to be a missionary for Him every day of our lives.
YWAM now offers homeschooling packets, which include a biography and a unit study guide. I reviewed the biography of Jim Elliot. Along with being able to read the exciting and incredible biography of Jim Elliot, the Jim Elliot Unit Study Curriculum Guide offered areas of further study: history and geography, creative and essay writing, drama, reading comprehension, and many project ideas that help internalize what they have read about these heroes. The guide covers key Bible verses, how to set up a display corner, chapter questions, social studies, maps, and ideas for further study of related themes (such as Ecuadorian jungles, modern day missions to the Aucas, etc.).
Whether or not your homeschooling incorporates unit studies, I believe these books are worthy of your consideration. What better way to teach our children eternal things than to give them heroes whose lives are exemplary and admirable in the light of eternity?
