LIFEPAC: Computer Literacy: PowerPoint2000 Review by Dr. Heather Allen

http://www.AOP.com

LIFEPAC: Computer Literacy courses include specific courses for:

Microsoft Access
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Front Page
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft Windows
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Word 2002 (XP)

Each of these course includes 2 LIFEPACs, answer keys, and a tutorial CD-ROM with step-by-step instructions, practice exercises, and narration geared to amplify the material presented. The courses are designed such that, as the student progresses through the tutorial CD-ROM, the two LIFEPAC workbooks provide tests of the student's knowledge of the material. Thus, the student can walk through the computer program in a guided manner insuring that the features are understood and applied as appropriate.

With regard to PowerPoint specifically, this course walks the student through an introduction to the program, the creation of a presentation, customizing presentations, drawing and tables, slide shows, and outlining and proofing.

As a regular user of PowerPoint, I thought this course covered the essence of the feathers of the program and gave a good overview for the student to be able to effectively use the program for his or her specific needs.

If the student is a competent computer program user, he or she might get bored with this method of learning a particular package; however, it would insure that the student didn't miss important features. Conversely, if the student was new to these types of programs, this is an excellent way to get started and build the confidence necessary to jump in and use PowerPoint effectively.

I think this is a well-organized treatment of PowerPoint2000 and would be worthwhile for any student.
