Divide N Slide Review by Teri Lucas

Divide N Slide is a multi-sensory, non-traditional, supplemental math program to help your child conquer division facts in just three weeks. Written for both regular and special education students, the kit includes a teaching guide, one workbook, and manipulatives set.
There are twelve lessons to be taught in the following manner: one lesson per day for four consecutive days followed by a test on day five. A pretest and a posttest are provided to monitor progress at the beginning and end of the program.
Each Lesson consists of two worksheets that you complete while working with the student. These worksheets utilize rhyming/ speech/hearing, manipulatives/touch, and drawing/sight to reinforce the division concept being taught. This process will take about 15-20 minutes depending on the child. A 3rd worksheet is then provided as homework or in homeschool circles, a practice sheet. Following lesson 1 there is a review worksheet to be completed by the student the next day before moving into the new material.
Divide N Slide is designed specifically to aide those students who are having difficulty with the concept of division, those in special learning situations, or for quick mastery of division facts. It covers only the basic division tables and does not move forward into long division, etc. It is not meant to be a math curriculum, rather a supplement to your basic program. The workbook is consumable. It does a good job of helping those students who need more than flashcards and a few manipulatives to learn division. You could easily spread the lessons over a longer period time if your student requires such.
Large families, co-ops, special needs children, or those just wanting a little more practice would certainly benefit from the investment as this program offers a fun alternative to ordinary flashcards and rote memorization. The Divide 'n' Slide Parent Kit retails for $119.99 plus shipping of $9.95. This includes all of the items listed above. Additional workbooks may be ordered for $9.99 plus a $1.95 shipping fee. Other products in this line include Fishin' for Addition, Subtraction in Action, and Rhymes 'n' Times.
