Learn 'N Folder: Study a Country! Review by Stephanie Scarborough
Live & LearnSanford, NC
http://www.liveandlearnpress.com/
This Live & Learn product will have students learning about a country of your choice or maybe you could let them decide. This would tie in beautifully with your other studies.
Moreover, the research skills learned in the process are what excited me about this product. Answers and information regarding the country could be gleaned from sources such as the internet, encyclopedia, library books, travel agencies, etc. Website suggestions are given so you don't spend time sifting through useless sites.
The flaps of the learning folder are described with illustrations to show exactly what goes where. The folders have covered subjects that allow the student to walk away with a deep understanding of all that makes a country function from the people to the environment. This folder project will broaden your child's learning and give their work greater purpose. At the end of the study, the children will have a beautiful item to display. Suggestions are even given for international night for a support group to share information, fun and food together.
I've seen directions for making similar folder-type projects; however, this product makes it all so easy for the busy mom. All pieces are printed, ready to be cut and pasted on the folder. It's so streamlined; we can spend our time "touring" our chosen country, rather than measuring and printing out folder parts.
Moreover, Live & Learn press has thought of so many interesting topics for the folder. We can't wait to get started.
Suggested ages/grades: 4th-8th
