Lost in the Woods is a photographic delight from the same team that brought Stranger in the Woods to families everywhere. Beautiful photography accompanies a story of a baby deer alone in the woods. After the woodland creatures discover the young fawn alone in the woods they question if it has been abandoned by its mother. The book features stunning photographs of each animal as they present there idea of what has happened to the mother deer. This hardcover book is perfect for family reading, science studies, as well as being a well loved coffee table book.
Since receiving the book, my six year old son spent hours laying on the floor looking at all of the photos. This book is the perfect spring board for creating a science study on habitats, and individual animals. The book also encouraged both of my kids to further explore nature with using photography to capture the beauty around us.
As I tend to lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach I found this book to be great for nature study, as well as an appreciation for art. The ending of the book concludes that the mother deer did not abandon the baby deer but rather that the baby was safer alone as it did not yet have a scent. This was a wonderful springboard for our family to discuss how wonderful God's creation is. This book will be cherished by our family for many years to come, and I encourage you to welcome it in to your home as well.
