- A Light Kindled: The Story of Priscilla Mullins
- Unfading Beauty: The Story of Dolley Madison
- The Land Beyond the Setting Sun: The Story of Sacagewea
- Nothing Can Separate Us: The Story of Nan Harper
The Beautiful Girlhood Collection is just what your daughters ages 9-12 will love! It is sometimes difficult to find interesting biographies from a Christian perspective, let alone ones that are lovely to look at with full-color illustrations. Ms. Leininger has opened up a window into the four very different ladies as they lived their remarkable lives in four separate time periods.
In A Light Kindled we meet Priscilla Mullins as she sails on the Mayflower to the New World. We see as she faces great trials and huge change in her young life. She must cling to her Savior to make it through. She was an amazing young woman who may well inspire your daughter.
Unfading Beauty brings us a little bit further in America's history to the time of the Revolutionary War where we meet ten year-old Dolley Payne. She is a young Quaker girl destined to become First Lady Dolley Madison. We learn a great deal about her interesting life and her brave behavior through the War of 1812.
The Land Beyond the Setting Sun introduces us to a young Shoshone Indian named Sacagewea. We follow her through her capture by a rival tribe and captivity there. She marries a Frenchman and ends up instrumental in making the journey of Lewis and Clark a success. She has a growing faith in the Savior as an adult and this helps her during an extreme illness. There is much more to this story too!
Nothing Can Separate Us is the inspirational story of Nan Harper and the fatal Titanic voyage in April of 1912. The story is told through the eyes of Nan to her young son. She goes back to when she was only six and a passenger on the great ship. Her faithful Christian father was her only living parent and continually directed her vision to the Savior. This is a powerful story that will leave you amazed at God's faithfulness and comfort.
These four remarkable women are well represented in these four lovely books. They are inspirational and important stories for your daughters. They should not be missed!
