I can’t imagine the dark ages of teaching without the Internet. Although I do miss browsing the stacks at the library for teaching tools and ideas, that practice does not hold a candle to the variety, potential, and speed of the Internet. Problem is – who has time to search around for appropriate material?
Cindy Prechtel has done the work for you! Her book contains 700+ educational websites to help put the Internet to use in your home.
The coverage of this manual is massive. She lists homeschooling websites for general information, special needs, reference, and organizing. There is a huge section on lesson plans and unit studies. One of my favorites was the learning games offered, containing on-line games to make, along with the many preschool sites.
Language arts are well represented with selection on reading and phonics, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and dictionary skills, writing, poetry, and literature. A complete math section covers just about any topic you might need. Some of the larger sections are those for history and geography and science. She also includes Bible and character education, and electives like art, music, languages, and crafts.
Cindy even shows us how to effectively use and search the Internet. She also includes a review of a site that can help you to manage your bookmarks and favorites.
If you want to take advantage of the tremendous resources on the Internet, this guide is an inexpensive, comprehensive manual to make the most of this technology. At the current sales price of $18.00 plus $2.00 for shipping (Florida residents pay six percent sales tax), you will reap benefits of far greater value.
