Key to Fractions, Book 3, is the third in a series of four books on fractions. Topics covered in Books 1, 2, and 4 are Fraction Concepts, Multiplying and Dividing, and Mixed Numbers. Book 3 covers adding and subtracting fractions and is 37 pages long. The fraction series comes with an answer book containing notes. Key to ...®books are not a complete curriculum but an enhancement to the math program of your choice. Key to Fractions is suitable for grades four and up, but I would recommend it for grades four through six. The books are consumable, so you will need a set for each of your students.

Key to Fractions is best used as a supplement for a student who needs or wants additional instruction in fractions. It is self-teaching, speaking directly to the student. My fourth-grade daughter had no trouble reading and following the instructions in this book. I like the fact that the lessons are short and can be used with another program without overwhelming a student. In our house, we used one to two pages per day in addition to our regular math program.

The Key to ...® program was not written for homeschoolers, but it is well suited for use in a homeschool setting. I believe any type of learner will benefit from Key to Fractions, even an unschooler.

I am very impressed with the Key to Fractions series. It has worked very well in our house, and I can highly recommend it. Abigail can add, subtract, multiply, divide, and simplify fractions with ease. I cannot think of anything I would change. The price is reasonable (about $15 for the workbooks and answer key as of 4/25/06), and the material is top notch.
