Little Annie's Art Book of Etiquette and Good Manners Review by Jenifer Pepito
Barry and Saundra StebbingHow Great Thou Art

The creators of the acclaimed How Great Thou Art drawing curriculum have produced a delightful way to encourage a child's artistic pursuits while teaching them social graces. Little Annie's Art Book is a wonderful, 90-page curriculum of fun and interesting art lessons centered around the theme of manners. There are five chapters with topics such as Peers, Family and Guests. Each chapter contains a wealth of activities, stories and scenarios to reinforce good etiquette. The lessons are very detailed, covering obeying parents, being kind to friends and becoming a good hostess. The section on guests addresses table setting, serving and mealtime manners as well as many other topics related to having guests. There are also selected vocabulary words with definitions included that help to illustrate the lessons. The art part is equally thrilling, with many opportunities for drawing practice and lettering, in addition to the large number of art concepts that are taught. These concepts, such as complementary colors and perspective are nicely integrated into the lessonson etiquette so your child is actually having fun while they are becoming more refined. This book is geared towards children 4-9 years of age although handwriting skills should be fairly developed to use it to its full potential. It is spiral bound so it lays flat and is very reasonably priced. The publishers give permission to reproduce for home use so it could be used with more than one child. My eight year old is having a great time with it -- she chooses it over her other school books every time.
