God's Incredible Creatures: The Gift of Sharing is a very colorful, very sturdy board book for preschool and elementary children. It is a companion book for the DVD series "Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution." In this book Sammy the squirrel finds an acorn and desires to keep it from his sister. After meeting various animals in his effort to hide the acorn, he learns that God has given them wonderful gifts that make each one unique. Sammy eventually learns that he has a gift and that gifts are for sharing.

This is a wonderful addition to the "Incredible Creatures" series and is easily used as a tie-in to the DVDs as you work with younger children. Younger students might even be more apt to stay interested and understand the DVDs after reading this wonderful book. That certainly seemed to be true for our two-year-old. But don't think that you have to have the DVDs. The book stands alone as a character education product, stressing the wonderful value of sharing. The book is easy to read and includes questions that are repeated with each animal as Sammy tries to determine who it is that is giving the animals gifts. Each animal responds with the same answer: "God!" This sweetly innocent story is one that children will easily relate to. The end of the book includes a discussion page to open communication between parents and children regarding the gifts they have received from God.

Our family enjoyed this book very much. God's Incredible Creatures: The Gift of Sharing beautifully portrays God's incredible creatures in an educational format for children of all ages. This book will be enjoyed by older students and adults as they read to younger students, by non-readers as they flip through the pages, and by young readers as they follow along on Sammy's journey in learning about sharing.
