I was incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to review the Elements of Biblical Education audio CD. This 80-minute seminar, given by well-known author and speaker Diana Waring, explores the three key elements of a biblical education in the homeschool classroom. Mrs. Waring is witty and down-to-earth, and it's a pleasure to listen to her-- just like visiting with a friend. Revelation, relationship, and participation are the elements introduced and supported by important, life-changing Scriptures.
Mrs. Waring explains not only why we should teach from a biblical viewpoint but also how to do so by separating mere philosophy from truth, which is the Word of God. Understanding that all subjects were created by Him (yes, even Algebra!) and learning them through Him is the heart of her teaching. She stresses that we should not just be concerned with memorizing facts but with learning truths that apply to our lives. My favorite quote is "Our lives on earth are a classroom for eternity." How true! Many times I found myself shaking my head in agreement, and I had several "wow" moments. Her words are thought provoking, and her love for the Lord is apparent. I would definitely recommend this uplifting, enlightening seminar for anyone who is seeking to educate their children in a Christian homeschool. In fact, I believe it is a must-have!
