Secret Keeper: The Delicate Power of Modesty Review by Tina Rice
By Dannah Greshhttp://purefreedom.org/
Secret Keeper: The Delicate Power of Modesty by Dannah Gresh is an uplifting and educational guidebook on modesty. Before I read this book, I equated modesty with wearing unattractive and characterless clothing. Mrs. Gresh's book has helped me to see that modesty is not just what you wear, but how, and why you wear it. Secret Keeper is written for teenage girls, but I think moms and dads will get as much information from it as their daughters. Consisting of six information packed chapters, Secret Keeper is a workbook as well as a guidebook. Chapter titles are: The Power (Modesty is a delicate yet formidable power); The Secret (God has an intended purpose for you); The Mark (It's not just fashion); The Allure (The allure of immodesty is not what is seen but what is not seen); The Inner Quality (If a girl's modesty is not followed by the confidence of internal modesty, she still forfeits the power of her virtue); and The Bottom Line (When you love Him, you will be able to obey Him in the way that you dress). Mrs. Gresh is not a fuddy-duddy who wants girls to look like old ladies, but she does want girls to know why modesty is important and applicable today. She gives great tips on going through your wardrobe to weed out clothing that is not modest. My daughters will all read Secret Keeper and I am sure their friends will too. I give this book a high five, and I believe you will as well! To purchase this book go to www.purefreedom.org . The Pure Freedom website has many fantastic resources, as well as a list of the authors speaking schedule. Mrs. Gresh has also authored And the Bride Wore White: Seven Secrets to Sexual Purity and Pursuing the Pearl: The Quest for a Pure Passionate Marriage.
