More than just a counting book, We All Went on Safari introduces children to the country of Tanzania as they count various animals found there. You will follow a group of natives on their counting safari through beautiful watercolors and rhyming text. Leopards, giraffes, and ostriches are just a few of the animals you will encounter on your journey. The number being counted is found on every other page with the written word for the number also included in Swahili. A pronunciation guide is included on the last page with the number, Swahili word, Swahili pronunciation, English word, and dots to represent each number.
Additional pages include information on the safari animals encountered, the Maasai people, Swahili names, facts about Tanzania, and a map.
We loved the colorful pages of this book. But if I could add anything, it would be a little more red watercolor over the back end of a little native. He is only painted from the side, so is not too noticeable; but that some may want to add their own artistic handiwork.
Learning about anything is easy when it is done with great books. I would definitely add this to a study on Tanzania or when learning to count! This lovely book gives children a wonderful introduction to a very foreign country.
