Professor Eggword's Animal Extravaganza is a CD-ROM full of entertaining games. There are five games on this CD. In the Safari game you look through binoculars to find different animals and you choose the appropriate animal from a list on the side of the screen. The Scramble game has animal words that are mixed up and you must unscramble them to discover what the word is. The Jigsaw Puzzle contains animal pictures that are made into jigsaw puzzles--you put the pieces together to see the picture. The Match game is a memory game where you flip over two cards and see if they match, and you go through the whole set of cards till you match them all. The last game is the Slider Puzzle the picture is cut into pieces and you slide the pieces around till they match up to form a picture. Another fun activity on this CD is a Photo Album; it has many animal photos.
This CD-ROM is really simple to use. You simply put it into the CD player part of your computer and it automatically loads onto your screen. Because these games range from easy to difficult they can be used for a variety of ages from about three years of age up to twelve. I think that a visual learner would do best with these games.
I really liked how excited my children got about this product and that they began learning the animal names very quickly. With so many different games they will not get easily board with this product. I also liked how they showed some unusual animals, not just the run of the mill ones that every child knows automatically.
The main thing I disliked about this CD-ROM were the graphics. They are really quite poorly done in comparison to many of the games my children play online. I will say though, that this did not seem to deter my children, and all the wonderful full color pictures of the animals almost makes up for the lack of good graphics.
This was a fun CD and while I enjoyed playing it with my children there are honestly so many good free computer games out there that I would not personally buy this particular one.
