Write the Right Way! is a program that shows parents how to teach their children proper writing. It consists of a three-ringed binder that contains course material as well as two DVDs that have the author teaching a writing workshop for parents. The two DVDs contain three hours of instruction.
As you view the DVDs, you will make your way through the material in the three-ringed binder. Carol Thaxton is quite humorous and engaging, and she really keeps your attention. In the DVDs she is actually teaching a workshop, so it is as if you are part of the group. The interaction really adds to the experience and helps you get more out of the class. At the end of the second DVD, Carol Thaxton teaches high school students "How to Write an Essay." This teaching takes place in an actual classroom, so again the experience of seeing others interact is very helpful. This program helps parents teach Language Arts to children from preschool through high school. This program is so diverse in its ages that I believe any homeschool parent could benefit from it.
I really appreciate that this program can be used throughout your homeschool journey and that you do not have to keep buying products. I also really enjoyed Carol Thaxton's engaging personality and wonderful sense of humor. I love how simple she makes everything. I am not an English genius, and she really brings it down to a level that anyone can understand.
The only thing I believe could be improved is some of the audio quality on the DVD. There were times when I had to strain a bit to understand what she was saying.
I would definitely recommend this product. I think you get a lot of bang for your buck, and as a homeschooler that is important to me.
