The Beginner's Bible: The Very First Easter is a small paperback picture book with 7 excerpts from The Beginner's Bible to help young children (ages 2 - 5) understand the true meaning of Easter. This 6.25 by 7.5-inch book includes the colorful illustrations of Kelly Pulley on all 31 pages.

The Very First Easter begins with a brief summary of Jesus' life and the miracles that are told in Matthew 8 - 15. It then retells the events of Palm Sunday, washing the disciples' feet, the Last Supper, Jesus' arrest and crucifixion, Easter Sunday, and Jesus' appearance to the disciples. The Very First Easter would be useful for parents, Sunday School teachers, and nursery workers. With its low cost of $1.99, it would also make an excellent gift for friends, neighbors, Sunday School students, or church visitors.

We have owned a Beginner's Bible for years, and we have enjoyed the simple retelling of Bible stories for young children. I have always felt that The Beginner's Bible manages to simplify the Scriptures without removing any essential truths. The same is true of The Very First Easter. Some families may not like that this is a paraphrase of Scripture rather than direct quotes.

My three-year-old isn't able to sit through this entire book and pay attention, but its subdivisions allow me to read it to her in sections. I'm glad Zonderkidz decided to repackage these excerpts in a separate book. It's a nice size to hold when you read aloud.

The Beginner's Bible: All Aboard with Noah! is a large lift-the-flap board book designed to teach preschool concepts to young children. Noah's story is very briefly retold, and then it is used as a theme for introducing the concepts of colors, what animals eat, sounds, matching, and animal homes. This 9.5 by 11.5-inch board book includes 50 flaps for preschoolers to explore.

All Aboard With Noah! is an interactive, fun book to read with preschoolers, ages three and up. The colorful artwork of Kelly Pulley is perfect for young children. I own several other large lift-the-flap books, and All Aboard with Noah! has a similar sturdy construction. My three-year-old and five-year-old have been enjoying it--both on their own and with someone to read it to them.
