Herein Is Love: Leviticus and Numbers are two wonderful Bible commentaries for children. Leviticus has 136 pages, while Numbers has 222 pages. Both are paperback books. Each one covers its respective book of the Bible. At the end of each chapter, there are craft/visual aid suggestions, a memory verse, Psalter song suggestions, and a field trip suggestion. Each book is complete in and of itself, and all you have to do it open the books and start reading to your children!
Each morning during our homeschool Bible time, we would cover 2-3 pages, stopping as needed to explain what we were reading. Then after we were done we discussed what we learned. While the author intended these books for ages 4-8, I would say they are great reading for adults too and really span the ages well! I was learning right alongside my children. These books were not specifically intended for homeschoolers, but I would say that they would fit in with almost any homeschool method.
We really enjoyed these books and learned so very much from them. I think my favorite part was that they were really teaching my children about Gods Word and not just a bunch of fluff. My children have said that they almost felt as if they were there living out the experiences that we read about! Nancy E. Ganz really stays true to Gods Word and does not stray into her personal opinions. And yet she is able to maintain your interest. I also appreciate how she ties in the New Testament to what you are learning about the Old Testament. Oh, and let's not forget that these books are incredibly affordable. You could easily order the whole set and not break the bank!
It is honestly hard for me to find anything needing improvement with these books, but if pressed for an answer I would say that just a few of the sections are a bit wordy and could have done with a bit less description.
I highly recommend these books to any family who wants to dig deeper into God's Word and to help your children have a richer understanding of the Scriptures!
