The Nutricise music CD contains 12 songs that talk about nutrition and exercise in a fun way. They cover topics such as fast food, healthy eating, and taking care of our bodies.
While Nutricise was not created for homeschoolers, I think it could work for any type of homeschooling method and, for that matter, any type of learner. You could certainly use this in a health or science class to make learning fun!
While I liked the fact that this CD promoted healthy eating habits and exercise, my kids were not so fond of it. They listened to it once and have not touched it since. It's for 3-7 year olds; my kids are 4 and 6, so age is not the issue. This CD just somehow failed to hold their attention.
The only negative thing I could find with this CD is that the tunes of the songs could have been a bit more varied. Many of them sounded the same to me. I don't recommend that you buy this CD. The price is too high, and it won't keep your kids' attention.
Another review:
Years ago, I came home late after working at my internship and made a midnight snack of some steamed broccoli. My then four-year-old son woke up and came out to give me hugs and kisses. When he realized that I was eating broccoli without him, he burst into tears and practically begged to share some. It was 11 o'clock at night, but how do you tell your young child he may not have broccoli! That's just somehow wrong on a deep and profound level! So we snuggled and shared a bowl of broccoli before going right back to bed.
Trying to teach our children to have healthy eating habits and to enjoy physical activity is not always easy in our fast-food, couch-potato culture. Educational Activities, Inc., has created a fun CD with 12 songs designed to help kids get excited about healthy living. The peppy music and clever lyrics in Nutricise ($15.95 for CD or $14.95 for download) keep kids interested as they learn about healthy eating and the importance of staying active. An included PDF file has all of the lyrics for the 12 songs. My kids enjoyed listening to the music and learning the words.
While I doubt listening to Nutricise would turn your child into a turnip greens fanatic, it would likely make him or her think twice about that Twinkie! Kids love music, and Nutricise provides a great platform for them to learn while they listen.
