The Moov Street Kit (4 in 1) is a building set that provides the materials and directions to make four ride-on toys: a scooter, a tricycle, a carver, and a racer. The kit includes all the materials necessary to build the models; no tools or batteries are required. The 220 wood, metal, plastic, and rubber pieces include rings, wheels, pneumatic tires, axles, frames, and planks. The individual pieces are sturdy, attractive, and high quality. All Moov pieces are manufactured in the Netherlands.
The kit includes detailed and full-color instructions for each model. First, a picture shows the completed model. Then a chart shows each piece needed to build the model. The instructions do not include any written directions, so even a non-reader can follow along. Each step is numbered, and arrows show what to do first, next, and so on. When a child might accidentally put a particular piece on backwards, or otherwise incorrectly, an exclamation mark alerts him to pay close attention; a green happy face and a green check mark show the right way to assemble the pieces, and a sad red face and red cross show the wrong way.
BERG Toys says its mission is to help children " . . . develop social skills as well as maintain their physical and mental health." To that end, they create toys that encourage children to be both creative and active. The Moov Street Kit is a fun toy that achieves both those goals. First, children have to follow directions or possibly work together as a group. Then they actually get to ride on the resulting model! After building the models and learning what works, they might even try to create their own models.
My three youngest children (aged 8, 10, and 12) are Lego fanatics. They love to build, tear down, and rebuild. They absolutely love the Moov Street Kit. When asked if it was difficult to build, the 12-year-old said, "Yes, but that's what makes it fun!" They have a lot of fun taking turns riding and pushing each other all over the backyard, and they especially enjoyed taking the racer for a ride all over the hilly church parking lot. Thankfully, brakes are included!
BERG Toys recommends the Moov Street Kit for children aged 5 to 12. The maximum weight recommended to ride the models is 110 pounds.
