This is a spiral bound creative writing course for beginners consisting of 47 pages. The course begins by describing the various elements of the essay and then gives assignments. The author gives example of essays, including some of the Psalms, and asks questions and makes assignments based on them. The first few assignments are mostly defining words, and there is some memorization in the early lessons. Later lessons get down to the process of writing. For instance, the section on paragraph writing has the student making outlines and then writing their paragraphs from the outlines. Many of the lessons draw on Scripture for examples and also for inspiration. The text contains many excellent examples of essays and quite a few of them are from the Bible.
It's not a very long study, but it is very comprehensive. I believe the high school aged student would benefit from this course. I believe that if done properly, this course should consume about a quarter of your school year. Then it could be followed by other creative writing assignments. I will certainly be using it in a couple of years for my granddaughter. I appreciate having a resource to teach creative writing that leans on the Bible rather than secular subjects for examples.
This book is priced at $10 on the website, and that is very reasonable for a course of this caliber.
