I Love God's Green Earth is a devotional book with a goal of inspiring biblical environmental stewardship. Each brief devotional contains a scripture, a few paragraphs about a natural event, a biblical connection to the theme, practical ways kids can make a positive God honoring impact on the earth, and a fun fact or silly joke. I would say its intended audience might stretch from 3rd to 8th grade. Younger children can also listen in without getting fidgety. The lessons are brief enough to respect the attention spans of young children, yet they provide enough information to capture the interest of older children as well.

Parents can read I Love God's Green Earth along with their children. Families will notice the biblical mandates to care for God's creation and discuss how to rid their hearts of spiritual pollution. Then they might discuss the suggestions for social and environmental action. Perhaps the family could get involved by planting a tree in the yard, praying for countries affected by natural disasters, or actively committing to recycle. As you read God's word and study facts concerning his creation, expect to be motivated to go beyond the pages of the book and apply the lessons with action.

I Love God's Green Earth is a successful balance of biblical truth and environmental awareness. I thought that the writers were very successful at promoting awareness while also pointing to Christ. I appreciated that the book did not promote earth worship but rather worship of God by respecting what He's made. The book does well to honor the creator above creation. I found it to be very informative on issues such as animal behavior, energy, air pollution, and seasonal changes. My children and I learned a ton! I especially liked the authors' approach to the issue of global warming. They don't agree or dispute the argument but simply provide facts about greenhouse gases and list things that have been observed in nature. Best of all, I enjoyed how they used scientific facts and information to address spiritual concerns. They cover important life issues such as anger, mercy, compassion for others, guarding against the enemy, and trusting God through life's storms.

With interest in "going green" becoming more common and necessary, I Love God's Green Earth is a wonderful way of helping kids to know facts while still building their faith in God. I think nature and science lovers will really enjoy this special devotional.
