A Pet for Miss Wright is a delightful story for young children ages 6-10 years old about an author and her day-to-day struggle to produce good writing. It is wonderful and inspiring for children to think about real people writing books! The story goes on to tell how Miss Wright's home is too quiet, so she brings in one pet after another until she finally brings home a dog who acts as her "editor." The whimsical watercolor illustrations bring the story to life, humorously showcasing one writer's experience.
The author, Judy Young, has written several books published by Sleeping Bear Press, including The Lucky Star, R Is for Rhyme: A Poetry Alphabet, and A Book for Black-eyed Susan. A Pet for Miss Wright retails for $15.95 and would be especially helpful for children who are having difficulty connecting with literature or are developing into reluctant writers. Enjoy!
