Tibbar's Tangrams puts other tangrams to shame! They are made of soft yet sturdy foam, and they are enormous! I can't get over the size. The diameter of the large triangle is approximately 41 inches! Your child will develop some gross-motor skills with these! Depending on the size of your table, you may be better off working with these on the floor. Some of your creations will be larger than life!
Tibbar's Tangrams come with two sets of tangrams; one set is blue, and one is bright green. Each set includes 2 large triangles, 2 small triangles, 1 medium triangle, 1 parallelogram, and 1 square. The set also includes a 32-page puzzle booklet with 80 puzzles and an answer guide. All of this comes in a sturdy clear plastic carrying case for $28.00.
Although the age range is for 3 and up, my 3-year-old daughter had trouble figuring out the puzzles in the booklet. I have to admit that I had trouble as well. This was my first experience with tangrams, and it seems my spatial relationship awareness is a little lacking! Thank goodness for the answer guide in the back. The puzzles in the booklet just show the shape of the finished piece, while the answer guide has the shapes outlined. So instead of using the puzzles to make our designs, we cheated and used the answer guides. You could always just let your child create their own masterpieces if the puzzles are too hard for them. My older children had an easier time constructing the designs without having to look at the answer guide. The puzzles include animals, people, basic objects, shapes, and ABC/123.
My kids have had a great time exploring this new twist on an old favorite! Tibbar's Tangrams really bring tangrams to life!
