If you ask me, homeschool moms can never have enough easy readers for their little ones. During kindergarten through second grade, I have my children read books aloud every day. The library doesn't always have exactly what I am looking for, so it's nice to know there are other options out there, like the Kaleidoscope Collection early reader series from Hameray Publishing.

As the website says, "The Kaleidoscope Collection is a 150-book series of Leveled Readers written by a team of experienced Teacher Trainers, Teacher Leaders, Literacy Coaches, Reading Specialists, and Reading Recovery Teachers, under the editorial guidance of Joy Cowley , one of the most well-loved and respected children's authors in the world."

Whether your children prefer books with photography or illustrations, Hameray offers a medley of early readers from which to choose. The stories are about situations and events children can relate to. The readers my daughter and I reviewed were about having a big brother, playing with water balloons, losing a tooth, and eating healthy foods--all of which my daughter has experienced!

Educational perks include word count, which is shown on the back cover, and reading levels, which are provided on the website. Also, a variety of ethnic backgrounds is portrayed, which I think is another positive feature of these early readers.

I encourage you to check out these books from Hameray Publishing. There is surely something to please every early reader in your home!
