Rowdy Raccoon Audio CD Review by Brandi Tesreau
Five Talents Audio770-518-8336

When Tommy Turtle meets Scissor, a Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher, he wants to be able to fly like Scissor. Sensible Savannah Squirrel encourages him to be happy just the way he is, but Rowdy Raccoon concocts a plan to help his friend achieve his greatest desire. When Rowdy's plan fails disastrously, all of the characters must band together in order to help save Tommy.
This audio CD is meant to accompany the hardback children's book by Donna C. Braymer but can be downloaded separately for just $1.99. It runs for about 7 minutes and is geared toward children ages 4-8.
Overall, the story is appealing and exciting. The excellent storytelling by Steve Cook and the accompanying sound effects bring the story to life. While being entertained, children can also learn important life lessons such as being content with the way God made them, and discovering their own special talents. You can visit www.fivetalentsaudio.com to listen to an audio sample of the story.
I received the CD for review only, and my 6-year-old daughter was a little disappointed that there were no pictures to look at. However, since she usually loves audio CDs that accompany books, I know it wasn't the story itself that disappointed her. From my personal experience, I would recommend purchasing the bundled set (hardback and audio download) for $13.95 unless you have a child who is particularly fond of listening only.
