Viva La Musica Review by Jennifer Pepito
Elise Carr Sumnerhttp://www.elisesumner.com
I was delighted to find another great tool for reinforcing and teaching Spanish in our homeschool. Viva La Musica by Elise Carr Sumner is a Spanish songs CD with a companion booklet. This set makes a wonderful introduction to the Spanish language. Even if it were your only resource you could learn a great deal of basic phrases and words in a very enjoyable way. There are 28 songs on the CD and the first 10 or so are geared toward travel and introductory phrases - my favorite of these is "No Hablo Mucho Espanol" (I Don't Speak Much Spanish). The other songs teach more verbs and vocabulary. The songs are accompanied by guitar and are very pleasant to listen to. The book has all the words to the songs in both Spanish and English, so you may follow along while listening. Some of the songs have lyrics that deal with romantic love and I might not play them too often for my young children, but overall the lyrics are about family, travel and childhood. My kids have let me know that this is their favorite of the Spanish tapes we own, and I appreciate being able to teach some subjects in a way that is fun for all of us.
Publisher's Note: I want to stress that this company is extremely friendly - perfect for homeschoolers and we highly recommend them!
