This little book is a paperback with 144 pages. It is a collection of stories by Holocaust survivors, telling about pets they had that helped them through the trying times of WWII and the Holocaust. What a wonderful way to introduce kids to this piece of history! While Holocaust stories are always sad and horrifying, the story of these gentle friends and faithful companions can appeal to children, and help them to understand a little more about this horrific piece of history.
We read this cover to cover and will make it a part of our permanent WWII history collection. This would be a wonderful companion to a homeschooler's history curriculum, as it will be very interesting and add some humanity to the facts and dates. This book sells for just $8.99 on Amazon and will be an excellent addition to any homeschool library!
