Totally Wild Fact-Packed, Fold-Out Animal Atlas is a unique book for the animal lover in your family.  It is a hardcover book with 56 pages that really are packed with pictures and facts about animals from all around the world.  When you first open the book you are immediately presented with a large pop-up style map of the world and a visual table of contents, which is based on the continents of the world.  There are eight sections:  North America, South America, Australia and New Zealand, Asia, Africa, Europe, Antarctica, and Oceans.  Some of the sections are further divided into smaller geographical regions, and some pages fold out to reveal more maps, pictures and graphics.

Each section includes information about that region of the world, including climate and geographical features.  You’ll find a map with countries, islands and major bodies of water labeled.  Then of course the pages are filled with pictures and facts about animals that are native to that area of the world.  The real photographs are gorgeous and show animals in their natural habitat.  Text boxes feature fun facts about the largest animals, the fastest fish, poisonous animals, and other interesting tidbits about featured animals.  I have one son that loves geography, and one son that loves animals, so this has been a fascinating book for our family.

This is not a comprehensive animal encyclopedia, but it offers a wonderful way to introduce and explore the animals of the word in a fun way.  The book is factual, colorful and engaging.  It’s a beautiful book, and would make a great addition to any school, classroom or homeschooling library.
