I am always on the lookout for bible study tools. I use them for my own personal bible study, as well as in our homeschool bible lessons. One of the things that we are currently working on with our two boys, is memorizing scripture—something that can be hard to do regardless of your age. When I learned that FaithCache had designed the Scripture Memory Set and Bible Promise Set to assist in doing this very thing, I couldn’t wait to give them a try!

FaithCache is a new to the market Christian company with the goal to provide tools to aid in committing God’s word to memory. Scripture Memory Set and Bible Promise Set are the two latest products they have designed to do just this. Using a system of memory verse cards that are colorful and even illustrated, this helps to provide the user with a better method for locking the scripture in their mind.

Scripture Memory Set consists of 390 full-color scripture memory cards that have been categorized into twenty-six different topics of faith—with fifteen memory cards in each topic. The topics include: Word of God, The Godhead, Creation, Great Controversy, Marriage and Family, Salvation, Law of God, Sabbath, Victory Over Sin, and more! The cards measure 3.5” x 2”, are double sided (scripture on the front, verse number on the back), and come in a high quality box with labeled dividers. The set is available in New King James Version (NKJV) and retails for $24.95.

Bible Promise Set is a pocket sized, illustrated, scripture memory card set consisting of twenty colorful 4” x 2.75” cards. Every full color, double sided card (scripture on the front, verse number on the back) has a unique illustration on it coordinating with the scripture verse. The set comes in a sturdy envelope style holder—perfect for stashing in a purse, bible case, pocket, or bag. The Bible Promise Set is available in King James Version (KJV) and New King James Version (NKJV) and retails for $9.95.

It is also possible to order the two products together for a discount at $29.95. Gift wrapping for an additional fee is also available.

As soon as I received these sets, I knew it was going to be something that our family would use. Not only are the cards of superb quality, with thicker cardstock material, but they are of a size that I can easily tuck away into my Bible, my purse, my windowsill, or even my refrigerator. I am always wishing that I had more verses tucked into my mind, but with these sets to assist me, it will be easier to do.

I have also found that they are great for using as a bible study tool. When I am reading bible stories, or devotionals a certain topic might strike a memory chord with me of a passage in the Bible. If it fits into any of the twenty-six topics in the Scripture Memory Set, I have a very good chance that it was included in the memory cards for that topic—or I might discover other scriptures to go along with what I am studying.  My husband gives sermonettes at our local church, and he appreciates having both of these sets for his reference when he needs to tie in scripture with his topics. Instead of doing a bible search on his computer, he can reach for the box of scripture cards, and go straight to a topic he needs. There at his fingertips are fifteen scriptures (old and new testament) to go with whatever topic from the box he chooses.

The Bible Promise Set has worked very well for our homeschooling bible studies, as we recently went through a devotional focused on God’s promises from the bible. These twenty scriptures included in this set, were all mentioned one way or another in our studies! Instead of writing out a memory passage, I simply pulled the card that matched and put it on the refrigerator for us to see throughout the week.

I took this set to church with me shortly after I received it, and many of the brethren expressed interest in owning them, telling me things like, “That would be such a great set for my teenagers to have!” or “I’d love to keep a box of those in my office where I can pick one to study each week.” Men and women of all ages expressed how useful having this resource would be.

As a non-denominational Christian, I appreciated that the memory cards were simply scripture. There was nothing added to them related to doctrinal beliefs—except how they were organized in the box.

Even though the cards use a variety of fonts, colors, and designs, I never had a problem reading the scriptures on them. The only ones that might cause a challenge would be when it is a long scripture, and the font size had to be a bit smaller to accommodate the scripture length.

Worried you might mix up cards within the Scripture Memory Set? No worries! Each topic is color coded, has the topic title on each card front, and has the topic title and number (1-15) on the back. This makes it easy to file them into the correct spot.

The only cons I have are really just related to personal preference. Because of a few of my beliefs, I would prefer that a couple of these topic titles be different; however, that’s definitely not something to prevent me from recommending either set.

I appreciate that the Scripture Memory Set comes in NKJV.  Although the Bible Promise Set I received is KJV, I am glad that I can later purchase the set in NKJV, which is my preferred version. I think it would be nice to see these sets offered in a variety of versions, since most users would prefer a set to match whatever Bible they are using.

In summary, this is a high quality and inexpensive product to aid anyone desiring to have scripture at their fingertips—whether to assist in memorization, or for reference. I am definitely recommending both products, and think they are not only great for personal use, but would be excellent choices for gifts or as prizes for events within a church, bible school, or bible summer camp.
