When my children were younger, we owned a variety of children's albums that we listened to on a regular basis. I wish we'd been introduced to Audio Memory when my oldest children were still young. It would have been so much fun to use their albums in our homeschool! Unfortunately, Audio Memory was in its infancy when we first began homeschooling.

Audio Memory's Bible Songs CD contains 11 original songs, as well as the performance soundtracks for each song. The songs are all sung clearly by adults, with simple accompaniment. The music is quiet, not loud or raucous, so it can be used in a classroom setting without winding up the children. It does have an old-fashioned feel that older children may not enjoy. We've found this to be an increasing problem in our home, and have learned to introduce children's albums when the older children are not around to negatively influence their opinion.

The Bible Songs album is split fairly evenly between Scripture memorization songs (using the International Children's Bible translation) and other Christian songs. The Scripture memory songs are based on Matthew 6:9-13 (The Lord's Prayer), Matthew 7:7-8, Matthew 7:3-5, Matthew 6:14-15, and Matthew 6:19-21. “No Other Name” is a combination of John 14:6 and Acts 4:12. This album also includes: “Books of the Old Testament”, “Books of the New Testament”, “The Apostle's Creed”, “The Ten Commandments”, and the story of “The Rich Man and Lazarus”.  “The Rich Man and Lazarus” is entertaining, though less conducive to memorization or performance.

There is an included paperback booklet that contains all the lyrics for the songs and accompanying coloring pages. Some of the coloring pages include the familiar style of the Christian cartoonist, Ron Wheeler. Permission is granted to re-print the lyrics for an overhead projector, and the coloring pages can be photocopied for personal use.

The Bible Songs CD is suitable for children in preschool and early elementary grades. Our younger children (3-7 years) enjoy listening to The Bible Songs CD and singing along with it. We will primarily use this CD in church settings, or when our older children are occupied elsewhere.
