The Water Treatment Exam Review Course is designed to prepare students to pass their state water treatment operator license exam. The entire course is online; an internet connection is required while completing the lessons.
This course is designed for adults. My graduate agreed to take this course at my recommendation, and it had an additional unintended benefit from the beginning as an advanced math course. She shared that the explanations provided with the math components of each lesson are very clear. She actually advised her younger sister to watch the math practice videos preceding each lesson as it could help her better understand the concepts covered. Math, clearly explained, is just one component of this course. There is a prerequisite to taking the course that the student understands Algebra 2.
The Water Treatment Exam Review Course currently costs $99.99. Certificate programs and free resources are also offered on their website.
My daughter described the lessons to me as easy to follow and shared her review as well:
The course is designed to be at your own pace. I really like the way this course is flexible, so I can follow my own schedule. Some days I can do more than one lesson, or take a few days off. There are 20 lessons in this course, along with a quiz after each lesson, practice tests at the end, and flashcards throughout to help reinforce what you've learned. Each lesson lays out the outline for what will be taught, then gives definitions and formulas that you will need to know for that lesson. I've learned a lot that has to do with calculating the area of certain amounts and different shaped containers of water. Lessons I've completed also covered converting amounts of water to other units, learning the speed of water and how much it weighs.
There are no textbooks or other materials needed with this course. There are worksheets provided which can be printed out ahead of time or just opened on your computer. The questions in them are different than the ones in the lesson and on the quiz, so they are great for extra practice.
When you do the quizzes at the end of each lesson, if there are any missed questions, most of the time there is an example for each problem to show you how to solve that specific question. You can review these after the quiz is complete. Quizzes can be done over and over again as needed. As the student works through each lesson, examples are provided. Quizzes can be repeated until mastered.
I do recommend this course, although we haven't reached the end yet to apply the knowledge as intended. Even if you use it for nothing else, the math lessons in this water treatment course are fantastic. If your high school senior or an adult in your family has an interest in this type of work, I recommend considering this course.
