We love to listen to stories on CD. We love the idea of a read-aloud story, yet crave something more than mom reading sometimes. What do we do when this happens? We find a great audio drama to listen to!
Our latest audio drama has been The Misadventures of Tom Sawyer from Lifehouse Theater On-The-Air. This 70-minute audio drama is full of action, adventure and misadventures. I personally love that this is a classic brought to life and the kids have fallen in love with it through this audio drama.
This audio drama was not just one person pretending to be all the characters. Instead, we were given a full cast of characters and real-life sound effects. This makes us feel as though we are in the middle of the story. We are not just listening to the story, we are living this story as we listen.
Not only do we get to listen to this wonderful audio drama, but Lifehouse Theater On-The-Air offers free curriculum guides to go with each of their audio dramas. These are not full unit studies, rather it contained simple background history and some basic comprehension questions. There are two Further Discussion questions that allow you to take this story just a little further and learn a little more.
This simple audio drama was a great break from the boring read alouds that we have been doing. The kids loved it and I loved the curriculum guide to take my oldest learning a little more about the story. If you are looking for a great story of Tom Sawyer, this is something you will want to listen to!
