The National Association for Child Development (NACD) is an international organization that distributes information to parents and professionals on helping children and adults to reach their full potential. They provide services to parents to address educational and neurological inefficiencies.
I had the opportunity to review one of their tape series, Guide to Child Development and Education. This 5 CD set is a seminar by NACD founder, Robert J. Doman. The first part discusses what we know about the brain and neurological organization. He discusses the concept that the brain can be stimulated to increase its efficiency. The next section talks about how to learn faster, retain information longer and use it better. The third section is about motivation and behavior, and the next is a survey of the spectrum of neurological dysfunction, discussing things such as down's Syndrome and learning disabilities. The last section discusses the role of active-involved parents and presents information about NACD and the services they have available.
This series was very interesting and I learned a lot about brain function and the potential to help children function better.
