Geometiles™ are a unique set of connectable shape pieces in six shapes and four colors. This ninety-six-piece full set has plenty to keep kids ages six and up (and even adults) busy with creativity! It's available for just $85.00.

There's so much you can do with this set. When you open the box, step-by-step visual instructions inside the lid get you started with building a square prism (box shape) and a dodecahedron (soccer ball shape) as shown on the outer cover of the box. So right away, users can be successful building three-dimensional figures that are familiar to them and become acquainted with how the pieces connect together.

Four separate bags inside separate the shape sets by their vivid colors of purple, green, yellow, and orange. A printed quick start guide gives instructions for connecting and disconnecting the pieces and hints for how to create closed shapes. It also gives examples of some of the creations you can make and directs you to the website for additional resources.

Those additional resources are perhaps what make this set so special! There, you can download a full set of corresponding workbooks: 3D Solid Understanding, Shape Challenge (grade four+), Get Acquainted, Building Ideas, Mini Set Ideas, Brain Teasers, Angle Mania, Fractions, Fractions B, and Tangrams! These workbooks contain full lesson plans and classroom activities to challenge students in a variety of ways.

I was initially interested in using this set to introduce my third grader to fractions. While it was great for that, I was also surprised to find that my seventh grade daughter actually took the most interest in this right from the start! She has a very creative mind and loves to work with hands-on materials. There were many nights that she got them out just to explore what kinds of three-dimensional shapes and scenes she could build with them, whether it was a hut with a door, a fort, a playpen for our hamster, or a soccer ball that she and her brother could roll around! Sometimes it's difficult to find educational entertainment for a middle-schooler, so you can imagine how pleased I was to see her getting these out all on her own and putting her mind to work!

Geometiles™ are a great tool for stimulating the minds of the whole family!
