I have been searching for a character study that was on level for my kindergartner and would keep his interest. I also wanted it to be biblically based and focus on godly character traits. I finally found it in this wonderful book by Jim and Elizabeth George, "God's Wisdom for Little Boys. Character Building Fun from Proverbs." The age range listed for this book is 2-5, but even my eight-year-old loved it!

There are 19 different character traits included in this delightful book. Each of the character traits has a short poem, a Bible verse from Proverbs, and a beautifully illustrated picture of a small boy portraying the character trait listed. Included in the back of the book is a 'Words to Know' page that give definitions to words that younger children may not know the meaning of.

We loved this book. It was a great addition to our reading time. We were able to focus on a new character trait each week. We used the verse from Proverbs to explain why the character trait was important. This book opened the door for conversations on how each child can be more aware of portraying godly character in their lives. It also helped us look for ways to encourage the weekly character trait in my boys.

You can purchase a copy of God's Wisdom for Little Boys for $17.00. There is also a version for little girls available. I think this would be a great gift for any young boy to help him learn to live with godly character!
