Victory in the Valley is a short inspirational book for those who are struggling through dark and lonely times in their life. The author, Diana Furr, is a Christian lady who has endured the dark valley of breast cancer and has recorded the miracles and lessons she learned along the way into a story that is sure to encourage others, especially those who are walking a similar path.
Diana begins by telling a little of her life story, laying the background for what turns out to be an amazing turn of events following her diagnosis. As she walked through this valley, she recorded thousands of pages worth of thoughts, feelings, and encounters with the Lord. This story is not just a biography of breast cancer treatment but a glimpse into the intimate and sweet, comforting moments that the Lord graciously provided to help Diana through her journey.
She sifts through the many lessons she learned and boils it down to seven “secrets” of gaining victory through such a trial. The concluding chapter explains the secret that evolves into the motivation to write this book: “Let God turn your mess into His message, then become His megaphone.” Not only does Diana share her cancer journey, but she also writes about her relationship with the Lord in a very transparent way, sharing not only how she came to know the Lord, but how her faith has grown through some difficult circumstances.
Diana’s book is very easy reading. After finishing it, I feel a closeness to her as if I had met her in person. Her writing is poignant and relatable. I enjoyed reading about the “conversations” she had with the Lord. By submitting to the Lord through her trials, she has learned a unique perspective on life, and it is a blessing that she has chosen to share these thoughts. I believe this book would be an encouragement to any Christian lady who is struggling with dark times in their own life, especially if they are walking through the valley of cancer or difficult medical issues.
Victory in the Valley is currently selling for $13.99 for the paperback version. An eBook version is also available.
