Bella the cat brings a whole new outlook to the way one should look at life. My children have spent several read-alouds talking with me about what Bella has been through and how they can relate!
Bella is simply a cat who didn’t realize that she was lost, until she was found. This is a story that many of us, as humans, can relate to. We don’t want to admit to the fact that we needed finding until we found what we were missing.
Through this story, we follow Bella during the scary journey of being found by a kind human and getting used to her new, safe surroundings. We travel with her as she rebuilds her trust for humans and falls in love with being loved.
The end of the story finishes up with a letter from Bella, talking to us about how we face the same scary journey as her at times. How we can be lost and not know it. But she also tells us that we are never alone, no matter what we think. Just like her, we have someone who is there to help us feel safe; we just need to be open to Him.
Our family has been dealing with some scary health issues. It is just enough to make us feel alone at times. Bella helped us remember that no matter what we are going through, we are not alone. It is a simple story, but one with meaning. One that speaks to not only the children, but the adults.
Having a good story that helps relay messages of faith and comfort are a great welcome into our house. Even when the days are good, the kids love to pull out Bella Gets Rescued. Every time we have sat down to read the story, we love to talk about what the real story is. The kids love to take bits of this story and compare it to our daily life.
I love listening to my kids talk about Bella and the tough times she went through only to be loved. I love listening when they say the same things about us and all that we have been through, and how God still loves us. This is a great book for any family, whether you are facing struggles or not. Knowing that God is always there is something everyone should know, especially kids.
We will continue to love Bella and her story for years to come! And I hope to still have it around in many years when it is time for grandkids!!
