Pictures In Cursive, Book A: Daily Cursive Writing Practice Based on Picture Study Lessons is a handwriting practice book that contains 12 weeks of daily handwriting practice. Pictures In Cursive, Book A, is the second book in their series of seven books, from Primer to Book F. The cursive style used in these lessons is Zaner-Bloser. There is a sample page at the beginning for both capital and lowercase letters to help the students with proper letter formation.
Each week, there is a new piece of artwork to study. The artwork is titled, and the artist is listed. It is printed in full color and the book is spiral bound. The covers are sturdy and the pages thick enough that erasing does not easily create tears. This is a well-made, consumable book.
There are five sentences for each piece of artwork. Each day's lesson is a sentence that makes an observation on the artwork. The sentences are numbered 1 through 5 and have the sentence written in cursive for the student to observe proper formation of the letters before copying it.
I have found that my daughter enjoys handwriting practice much more when she can write about the observation of a full color piece of artwork. This has been a simple addition to our daily routine since it does not take long to look at the artwork in the light of the sentence to write for that day and then to write the sentence. This ten-minute addition to our day has been a blessing.
