With a busy preschooler in our house I am always on the lookout for things to keep him busy especially while I am doing school with his sisters. Having a paper copy of engaging activities right at my fingertips has been great with the use of the Busy Bags Kids Will Love book.  No longer am I having to search the ever-popular Pinterest for ideas. Instead I just pop open this book and get ideas in math, literacy, fine motor skills, and bags just for fun.

This book gives you step-by-step instructions on how to make each of the bags and includes colorful detailed pictures. Each project gives you the target skills, materials list, and detailed directions to assemble and to play. With the variety of ideas presented within this book there are enough ideas to keep your kids busy learning every week of the year. Another plus, is that most of the items you already have around the house. No need to make several trips to the store for supplies, which is another plus for me as a busy mom.

Assembling and using these bags with my son has been a breeze! I love the fact that these are not boring, run of the mill ideas. Rather, they are entertaining, educational, and exciting at the same time! Storing these busy bags is really simple too. I purchased a storage bin with a lid and have the actual busy bag material placed within a labeled Ziploc bag. I normally make two busy bags each Saturday so that the following week he has projects to keep him busy. If I find that he really enjoys a particular activity I will add it to our week, otherwise I rotate the bags that he uses between the categories above. My son enjoys having a bag to pull out of storage box and I love that the projects are so easy and quick to put together.

At the beginning of the book there is a list of 100 things your child should know before entering Kindergarten. Even though I have had five Kindergarteners before, this list is extremely helpful for me to see and read. Knowing that my son is on track as a three-year-old gives me confidence that I don’t forget the little things in our busy days. I appreciate being able to provide mentally stimulating activities for him without resorting to frequently using the TV. Being able to steal away 15-20 minutes to concentrate on a lesson while he is busy has been a real lifesaver to me.
