Can you find the abcs? (Book and Tracing Letter Set) Review by Jacquelin Caffey
ABC Nanahttp://www.abcnana.com
This year I am teaching my sixth and final preschooler! I really love this age of discovery and wonder. One of the things I try to do is to make learning through hands-on play as much as possible. My son is 3 years-old and learning his letter recognition and sounds right now. To help with letter recognition we have been using a great little book called, Can you find the abcs? by ABC Nana.
Can you find the abcs? is the brain child of ABC Nana. As a first-grade teacher, she struggled to help her students really grasp the short vowel sounds. After many attempts she began drawing little pictures and taping them to the students’ desks to give a visual representation. Soon, parents and other teachers alike were asking for all the letters to help the children thrive. Adding texture to the letters and rhyming corresponding text was just the icing on the cake to this program.
This book is fantastic as it incorporates sight, touch, hearing, and movement in the learning process. Research shows that young children learn best when they can activate multiple senses and this book does just that by having the child place the clear plastic letter card over the picture representation of the letter. Included in your purchase you will receive the Can you find the abcs? book, 26 clear plastic letter cards and a tube of glitter to trace the letters and give them texture. The short vowel sounds and each consonant sound are taught with this hands-on book.
This has been a great product for teaching my son his letters and the sounds they make. We started out by teaching him the letters of his name and the sounds they make. I love that each letter includes a corresponding picture to make it easier to remember the letter and the sounds they make. After working with this book 3-4 times a week he can now spell his name and tell me the sounds of each of the five letters of his name most of the time. That is great progress in my book and I now have a proud preschooler who loves to learn!
As we make our way through the rest of the letters of the alphabet I am confident that my son will pick up the letter recognition and sounds just as easy as he did with the letters of his name. Recommending this product to my friends has been super easy because it really is a fantastic resource!
