Blackjack- Dreaming of a Morgan Horse

This book is very exciting, and is the first one from the Morgan Horse Series. It was interesting to me when Heather's dream came true! (I won't give away the surprise for you!) At the beginning of most books, they seem to start out boring, but not this book. It was full of exciting things! If you love horses you'll especially love this series.

This book is about a girl named Heather and a horse named Blackjack that she loves. Heather trains this horse to canter and trot. Heather wants to prep him to go to a show, but she doesn't have much time to get him ready to win. She wishes that Blackjack will win, but she wishes even more that he could be hers, but it is only a dream...

"Blackjack, Dreaming of a Morgan Horse" was one hundred and ninety nine pages and I wish it would have still gone on. I think you should buy this book. I just couldn't put it down. Every word in it seemed magical to me.

The second book in the series is called Frosty - The Adventures of a Morgan Horse.

This book was actually better than the first book; I couldn't put it down! This book is about a girl named Heather and a horse named Frosty. At the beginning of the book, Heather 'rescues' Frosty when he gets bit by a snake, and then later, Frosty ends up 'rescuing' Heather. You will be interested to see what happens when Heather and Frosy end up getting lost in the woods alone. If you like adventurous stories, get this series!

It was a lot of fun watching my daughter get so involved with this great series. Mrs. Feld has a true gift in capturing the imagination and engaging the reader. It isn't always easy to find a set of books that will be read willingly by pre-teens! Kudos to Mrs. Feld on her delightful Morgan Horse series.

Publisher Note: "Blackjack" and "Frosty," two books in the series, were selected as winners of the award, "Children's Choices for 2005." This award is administered by The International Reading Association and co-sponsored by The Children's Book Council. What a blessing it is to find good clean books that children love!
