My oldest at home is currently finishing up her Junior year of high school and that means we are knee deep in prepping and taking her standardized tests. This is not my first go around with the SAT or ACT but boy have things changed since my oldest was in the process five years ago. That’s why I was really excited to get my hands on the 23 Inside Secrets About College Entrance Exam Tests eBook from College Prep Genius.
I received this book as a PDF eBook. It retails for just $18.95 and it is money well spent if you ask me. With 33 pages this book is an easy read. But don’t let that fact stop you from purchasing it. This gem of an eBook packs a big punch and gives you all of the inside secrets into the SAT and ACT exams! It’s the little things that no one necessarily told you about that you need to know before you and your high school students embark on standardized testing.
Do you know who wrote the redesigned SAT and why? I was surprised when I read about it and I think you will be too. Did you know you can take either test multiple times and that raising your ACT score by just one composite point can score you big merit money? I don’t know about you but $20K more in free college money is enough to make sure my child is prepared for testing. Now, you may be thinking you don’t need any inside help, but I am here to tell you that you need to be knowledgeable and this eBook helps you do just that.
When I first got access to this eBook I immediately downloaded it to my iPad, printed it out, and stuck it into our testing binder. I read through the pages the first time in one sitting on my iPad. I did not take notes that first read. I just wanted to soak in the information and get it into my head and start thinking about any questions I had. The next time I read through the book was the following week in the printed copy. This time my approach was a bit different because I wanted to be able to jot down notes in the margins of the pages. I kept my iPad handy because the last few pages of the eBook include hyperlinks to reference pages talked about within the pages.
I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about testing the SAT and ACT but the tips within the eBook definitely gave us an edge in planning and prepping. Like did you know about Superscoring? Some schools will take your best scores across several testing attempts and use your best scores. So, if you did excellent on the English/Reading section but need to shore up your Math, you could focus your studying just on the math portion for the next test. If you get a higher score, combine that math score with your excellent English/Reading score and raise the overall total. I never knew about this option with my oldest and unfortunately, we missed out on more merit money for her because of it; but you can be assured that I won’t make that same mistake again.
I think everyone should have a copy of this eBook if your child is starting the testing process. The price is just right and now that we know the tips within the book we are fully taking advantage of them with both of my current high schoolers. To me 23 Inside Secrets About College Entrance Exam Tests eBook is an invaluable tool to help my children be the most successful on their standardized tests.
