COOL CATS Super Leadership 4 Kids, LLC is known for creating unique products to help you cultivate leadership skills in your children.  By using the Building Blocks for Leaders Card Deck and Leadership Tips Poster we incorporated various leadership characteristic vocabulary words into our daily lessons. This set includes a Parent Guide, a poster, and card deck.

The Parent Guide gives a brief summary as to how these items can be used in your everyday life. They provided you with short details on discussing the qualities with your children, inspiring them, creating affirmations, and giving positive feedback.  There are also three suggestions for activities to use the cards for.  I appreciated the mention of how these skills can help make the community better which encourages your child to use these traits daily.

The Top 10 Tips on Leadership poster features a colorful list of 10 characteristics for being a good leader.  Each trait also includes a brief, two or three sentence description of the meaning.  The poster is on a nice, thick, high quality card stock but I did choose to laminate it so it will keep for many years. I like the vibrant colors and creative designs for each of the words. Though each word is surrounded by unique artwork, all the styles complimented one another beautifully.  We hung this on the wall in our learning center and went over the words weekly. 

The Building Blocks for Leaders Cards includes 50 vocabulary words and their definitions.  The cards are printed on the aforementioned high-quality paper and we did not laminate these.  Each week I randomly pulled two from the deck and we discussed them in the morning. We did this at the end of our Bible time because I thought it was important to include what God says about being a good leader.  I also took the words for the week and attached them to the wall, next to the provided poster, with mounting putty. I also included the words in our weekly spelling tests or used them for writing assignments during journal time.  The construction of the cards is great but they only came wrapped in plastic and no additional packaging was provided to keep the set together so we stored our set in a Ziploc bag. 

The only overall con that I can say about this program is that the website and packaging provide very little information to the consumer.  Aside from the name and some broad mentions of things to do with the cards there is not much detail given as to how to use the products I received. The cards are described as a game however no playing rules, points system, or techniques are included as to how to play this with peers. These examples could easily be printed on a card that is included within the deck. I also think that a word list card should also be included to allow a quick search for specific traits that parents or educators want to address. This is pretty much a create your own or do-it-yourself style product. Thankfully, I came up with ways to incorporate this into our daily lifestyle but for people who aren’t as creative more instructions and even videos providing example games would be greatly appreciated.

These products are all colorful and definitely eye catching which is great for parents and children alike. They were all written in easy to read language, but younger children might still need assistance in understanding the words used to describe the vocabulary.  This set would be good to use in a Sunday school or Bible study setting for children ages nine or older. I also think that this can be incorporated in homeschool or in co-op settings. As long as the parent or teacher is willing to be a bit creative they can use these items to strengthen the gifts, talents, and potential within their students.

Introducing and establishing leadership qualities within our children is a lifelong commitment to empowering them with confidence. When used consistently, the products created by COOL CATS Super Leadership 4 Kids, LLC help foster their ability to thrive in the future.  We enjoyed integrating the vocabulary within our daily lives and watching our son apply the principles presented in the Building Blocks for Leaders Card Deck and Leadership Tips Poster set.
