Banner of Truth has published the Banner Board Book Set, a set of four books introducing four men and women in church history. The set is aimed at ages 1-3. The Woman Who Loved Books introduces Susannah Spurgeon. The Doctor Who Became a Preacher tells a story of Martyn Lloyd-Jones. George Whitefield is introduced in The Man Who Preached Outside, and we learned of Katharina Luther in The Woman Who Helped a Reformer. The set of four board books, each containing 16 pages, is available for $36.

The books are super simple and easy to understand, very briefly touching on each person, but giving a basis for future learning. My two-year-old loved the colorful pages that were simple and real life. We could point and name things in each book, making them all the more fun to read.

I intended to read these to my two-year-old son, but it grew far larger than that. We’ve passed these around and each of my children has read these books, to the two-year-old and on their own. The names in the books are names we’ve heard of, discussed, and read of before in our home. Reading this Banner Board Book set encouraged my older kids to continue learning and read more of these forefathers.

I highly recommend this set and am thrilled to own it for my children. After years of owning colorful board books for my toddlers that had little meaning, I love that this set brings people to life that I really want my kids to learn about!
