Get Wisdom! a Study in Proverbs Review by Kim Rodriguez

My family and I have been working through the books of the Bible together for the past few years. I was excited to be able to use the workbook, Get Wisdom! a Study in Proverbs from Sibro Publishing to help us better understand the book of Proverbs.

This workbook consists of questions about all 31 chapters of the book of Proverbs. Each chapter contains approximately 20 questions and each chapter ends with a word of the day.The workbook encourages readers to write down a word from the chapter they do not know. Then, after finding the definition, to use the word sometime throughout the day.

My children are 13, 11 and 9. We read the scriptures together using the NIV and the NIrV.We also answered the questions as a group, which always led to further discussion. The questions are very basic comprehensive questions, not really Bible study/discussion questions. However, since we were going through the book together, I was able to bring in practical ways and ideas for the topics being discussed.

Overall, we thought the workbook was simple. I think my children were a little too old for this style of study. We prefer a little more in-depth scripture study while this is more of a comprehensive, did you understand what you read, study. This would be a great beginner study for children who are just learning how to study and pull out the most important parts of what they are reading.

I believe if you have beginning readers or children who are just beginning to understand how to sort out the most important ideas they are reading, this would be a great supplement to Bible reading. Having a workbook with questions to answer as they are reading through the Bible is a great way to develop a study habit and encourages understanding rather than just reading through.
