I adore rhyming books for my kids and especially ones that teach with rhyme. So, I was so happy to get to review the set of Guess Who books. They are the Guess Who Zoo, Guess Who Neighborhood, and Guess Who Farm. We also received the song cd of the Guess Who Zoo. We love all three books, but my daughter's favorite is the Guess Who Farm!

These are all lovely hardback books which is a huge bonus with me! I love hardback books because of how they look and of course their durability. With four kids using them it is extremely important to have durable materials.

The Guess Who Zoo is just adorable. It tells a rhyming story of a poor zookeeper who falls asleep and a naughty monkey steals his keys and lets all the animals loose. Now he will not give them back until you guess which animal he isdescribing. Children do this by listening to the rhyming description. Children will get to learn fun facts and guess who on monkeys, alligators, bears, seals, giraffes, kangaroos, camels, elephants, hippopotamus, anteater, and raccoon.

I love how it is full of brightly colored caricatures and that it teaches through the rhymes. An example of part of one of the poems says, "my nose can sniff for half a mile, when it smells leftovers I smile."  It also has a special section in the back called If Animals Could Talk which tells little known or funny facts about the animals such as for the kangaroo which says "her pouch is waterproof so Mom can swim without drowning me."

The Guess Who Farm was my three-year-old daughter's favorite! It is a hilarious tale of Young MacDonald who is old MacDonald's son. I thought that was too funny! He saves up, gets married, and buys a farm. Now all that is left to do is to stock his farm with animals, but when the truck arrives, those critters will not come out. They refuse until you guess who each one is.

Which animals will you meet in this Guess Who book? A cow, horse, rooster, goat, sheep, pig, duck, rabbit, donkey, fox, and beefalo. As with the other books, these are full of color pictures that easily hold children’s attention. This one incorporates some history of each animal into the rhymes. It also has the section in the back on “If Animals Could Talk.”

The third book we reviewed from this series was Guess Who Neighborhood. It tells the story of a family who is trying to move to a new neighborhood. Children meet a bird, mailman, squirrel, nanny, snowman, police, playground, mom, teacher, skunk, cat, and mouse. This is the only one of the three that includes both people and animals to guess who.

We also reviewed The Guess Who Zoo cd. This has thirteen animals that sing their songs and children must guess who. My children all loved these! This one is geared to children ages 3-8. They are cute and so catchy. Like the books, they are not only fun, but they educate at the same time. The music is highly engaging, and the songs are sung in funny voices. There are animal sounds in the songs as well.

We have read all these books multiple times and listened to the cd over and over. They are all a wonderful addition to your learning library!
