Butterfly Activity Book Review by Destiny Mawson

The bright colors from the Butterfly Activity Book from the Natural History Museum catch your eye. At $7.99, this 32-page activity book easily fits into most budgets.

The book is filled with colorful representations of caterpillars and butterflies with interesting facts and tidbits on each page. There is a variety of engaging games and activities throughout the book. Your child will color each stage in the butterfly’s life cycle, connect the dots of a caterpillar, spot the difference between butterflies that use mimicry, and much more.

I used this book as an enrichment to a butterfly unit study with my first grader. The tidbits on each page were helpful reminders of information we learned, and she enjoyed the variety of activities. It added an element of educational fun while increasing the value of what she learned.

The Butterfly Activity Book is best suited for grades 1-3. It would make a good addition to a unit study on butterflies or insects. It could also be used alone, such as during long car rides or when you need to occupy your child’s time.

Since the book was printed for a UK audience, British English is used for spelling the word “color,” making it “colour.” Your child may need some clarification depending on your location.

I would recommend the Butterfly Activity Book. The bold colors will grab your child’s attention and the activities will keep them engaged. They will enjoy learning about butterflies as they work through the book.
