Language arts and grammar are two subject areas that have a vast range of curriculum options. Safran Publishing offers English Grammer Usage Mechanics Punctuation Program or EGUMPP as an online teaching course for students to advance and grow in many ways.

EGUMPP is designed for middle and high school students. It is an online program used for teaching numerous foundations of the English language. There are four individual units or modules used to teach the lessons. The topics covered in this curriculum are grammar usage, punctuation, capitalization, and writing mechanics. EGUMPP uses a variety of exercises to get the most out of each lesson. 

The online program teaches each module in an in-depth repetitive teaching style. Each module includes a wide range of lessons. Each lesson includes videos, overviews, and required exercises to complete. The exercises comprise a tutorial, lesson reinforcer, and questions to help master what is taught. Scores are recorded, and a percentile is given for each lesson based on the number of questions correctly answered.

EGUMPP can be purchased online for $79.99 with access to all units or modules for one year. Our family used the curriculum with our sixth-grade student. What worked well for my daughter was how the online units are laid out and how the lessons build upon one another. She could polish up basic grammar and punctuation as each lesson moved forward. The material is stimulating as well as challenging but in small portions, so it wasn't overwhelming. Each day, she was able to hit on language arts skills in small sections. The courses require no daily prep time because the student just opens the lesson on the student portal and follows the instructions. 

As a family, we enjoyed the ease and progress students can make using EGUMPP. However, in our situation, the material was almost a little advanced for my daughter in the learning curve of sixth-grade grammar. If I could add anything to the modules, it would be elementary lessons and more of a basic intro into punctuation usage, writing techniques, and grammar.

I would recommend this online curriculum to middle school and high school students. It's an easy-to-use and stimulating program that fits any homeschool schedule.
