Elementary School Success 2005 Review by Jennifer Golombisky

Elementary School Success 2005 is a cool software program designed to capture the attention of your elementary aged student. These 13 CD-ROMs are packed with ways to review and practice the skills your child learns from your teaching. It's all here: Science, Math, English, Social Studies, Spanish, even Music Appreciation and Typing!
All kinds of unique characters share their learning adventures with you. Several of the CD-ROMs feature a little guy named Pipo, who guides you through the worlds of Geography, Astronomy, and Mathematics. You can try to save your friend's computer from destruction by weird monster-viruses in "Math Attack". Or, join Max and Claire, two floating aliens, as they play games to enrich your vocabulary. "TV Trevor" tries out to play the part of the Galactic Kid on TV, and gives you English review in the process. Quixel is a friendly robot who needs your help learning Spanish words and rebuilding his spaceship. One more character is Mango Plumo, a cute little bird on a mission to stop an evil wizard and learn about science.
Elementary School Success 2005 also includes a beginning-typing course, Encyclopedia Britannica software, and a "World Dance" game, featuring traditional dances. In addition, the "Master Flash Grade 5" CDROM is great for preparing your child for standardized testing. The "Tell Me Why" Science software gives an overview of insects, reptiles, and animals, with the one drawback of an evolutionist perspective. My kid's favorite was the "Mini Nutcracker", featuring games relating to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker.
Overall, Elementary School Success 2005 has a lot to offer. If your kid likes computer or video games, this would be a good way to give them additional review that's fun!
